The precision that truly never lets up has pushed consumers to look for cheap solutions first and perhaps put quality second. The question is, are private label products safe? why are they cheaper? which in many cases are produced by the same companies that produce the branded ones.
For this reason, research was conducted that may provide some answers.
The cost is lower because a private label product, for example, has no advertising costs, the packaging is not as expensive as a branded product, and of course there is no display cost on a supermarket shelf.
However, the research also showed possible risks such as:
  • Reduced quality control
  • Use of lower quality raw materials
  • Lack of transparency in production
  • Shorter life cycles
  • Instability in composition per batch
  • Lack of quality certification (ISO, HACCP, and others)
  • Focus on price instead of innovation or nutritional values.
