New Empire – A sect that rules the country without caring about anything
In times of social tension and uncertainty, a feeling of deep disillusionment with authority often emerges. Citizens feel that the decisions that determine their daily lives are made by a closed circle of people, cut off from the real needs of society.
The current New Democracy government is steeped in scandals, in the cover-up that it has anything to do with transparency, and as we learn, the European prosecutor is also investigating new cases involving at least ten more ND MPs.
It gives you the feeling of a new Empire of an elite that seems to operate like a closed sect with its own rules and priorities. Political power, when removed from accountability and transparency, creates the impression that it operates in the interests of a few. Citizens see promises broken, social problems escalating and institutions weakening; there is the feeling that a small group is managing the state without any real control and without any real interest in the common good. The new Empire does not need palaces and crowns, it can exist through networks of influence, economic interests, political alliances and communication mechanisms that shape reality.
The question remains open, can society itself, with the power of democracy, correct its mistakes?
