It gives you the feeling of a new Empire of an elite that seems to operate like a closed sect with its own rules and priorities. Political power, when removed from accountability and transparency, creates the impression that it operates in the interests of a few. Citizens see promises broken, social problems escalating and institutions weakening; there is the feeling that a small group is managing the state without any real control and without any real interest in the common good. The new Empire does not need palaces and crowns, it can exist through networks of influence, economic interests, political alliances and communication mechanisms that shape reality. <\/p>\n\n
